Simple Things to Ponder!

**A shell acts as an interface between the user and the system. As a command interpreter, the shell takes commands and sets them up for execution.
common shells and their indicators!!!!
sh – Bourne shell
csh – C SHell
bash – Bourne Again Shell
tcsh – enhanced C Shell
zsh – Z SHell
ksh – Korn SHell

**A standard PC floppy, once formatted, is capable of holding 1.44 MB. Because of this small capacity by today's standards, a floppy diskette and drive are rarely used. New solutions such as the LS-120 floppy diskette drive are cable of reading the standard 1.44MB floppy diskettes and also support a new type of floppy diskette capable of holding 120MB, which is equivalent to around 80 floppy diskettes.

**IRQ stands for Interrupt Request.
An IRQ or Interrupt request line allows a hardware device inside of the computer a direct line to the Microprocessor and tells the Microprocessor to stop what it is doing and wait until it has further instructions. Every PC computer has a maximum of 15 IRQs and are prioritized in the computer according to the importance of the device.

**TIFF
Stands for "Tagged Image File Format." It is graphics file format created in the 1980's to be the standard image format across multiple computer platforms. The TIFF format can handle color depths ranging from 1-bit to 24-bi

**A docking station, or dock, is a device that connects a laptop to multiple peripherals. It provides a single connection point that allows a laptop to use a connected monitor, printer, keyboard, and mouse. This allows a laptop to function like a desktop computer.

**Thunderbolt is a high-speed I/O interface that was developed by Intel and was introduced by Apple in 2011. It is based on the PCI Express and DisplayPort technologies and supports both data devices and displays.

**Tweet:
For most of history, "tweet" has been the sound a bird makes. However, with the advent of Twitter, the word "tweet" has taken on a whole new meaning.
A tweet is an online posting, or "micro-blog" created by a Twitter user. The purpose of each tweet is to answer the question, "What are you doing?" However, tweets can contain any information you want to post, such as your plans for the weekend, your thoughts about a TV show, or even notes from a lecture.
Each tweet is limited to 140 characters or less.

**DNS:
Stands for "Domain Name System." The primary purpose of DNS is to keep Web surfers sane. Without DNS, we would have to remember the IP address of every site we wanted to visit, instead of just the domain name. Can you imagine having to remember "17.254.3.183" instead of just "apple.com"?

-- For example, when you type in "http://www.adobe.com/," the computer doesn't immediately know that it should look for Adobe's Web site. Instead, it sends a request to the nearest DNS server, which finds the correct IP address for "adobe.com." Your computer then attempts to connect to the server with that IP number.

**Metaprogramming is the writing of computer programs that write or manipulate other programs (or themselves) as their data, or that do part of the work at compile time that would otherwise be done at runtime. In some cases, this allows programmers to minimize the number of lines of code to express a solution (hence reducing development time), or it gives programs greater flexibility to efficiently handle new situations without recompilation.

The language in which the metaprogram is written is called the metalanguage. The language of the programs that are manipulated is called the object language. The ability of a programming language to be its own metalanguage is called reflection or reflexivity.
